THE Congress of Union of Employees in the Public And Civil Services (Cuepacs) yesterday called on the government to consider giving double salary increment to all civil servants regardless of their employment groups and ranks.

Its president, Azih Muda, said the incentive would alleviate the financial burden that civil servants faced amid the rising cost of living.

“Cuepacs also called on the government to carry out a review of the public service allowance rate (for the lowest group) which is only RM95 now. The last time the rate was reviewed was in 2002.

“It is high time for the government to set the minimum rate for the allowance at RM180. This is among our suggestions,” he said in Kuala Lumpur last night

He said it was hoped that the suggestions be given specific consideration in view of the 15th Public Service Perdana Assembly (MAPPA) scheduled for Tuesday.

Aziz said the Congress had also asked the government to consider expanding the time-based promotion to other groups in the civil service.

“The first time the time-based promotion was given was to the implementer group of officers and then to teachers. Now, we are asking for the time-based promotion to be given to other groups soon…hopefully by January 1 next year,” he added. – Bernama, September 30, 2017.

  • You Stupid! Open up your eyes and look around on the ground. If Gomen staff ask for pay hike (an annual request by cuepecs that falls on feaf ears for ages) automatically gst will increase & tax will increase too! How uneducated & unreasonable are you with the other Rakyat. Gaji kuli gomen paid by org bayar gst & tax. Wake up or shut up! These stupid requests have been drag for ages and the productivity decreases. Or PSD should start exercising Mutual separation scheme (MSS) and. make a u-turn on the retirement age to 50. This is trannsformation.

  • I suggest PSD officers think outside the Universe and not just outside the box! Its sick hearing the same grouses year by year which is payhike for gomen servants.
    My Free Proposals:
    1. Cut the manpower from 1.6 million to 800k
    2. Lower the retirement age from 60 to 50
    3. Cut down the number of ministries ( if NBOS is declared successful then merge the duplicating ministries functions)
    4. No more new Depts or agencies like the upcoming JiTN ( as blasted by MACC big boss)
    5. Reduce and closed down the number of 105 Malaysia Embassies/High Commissions abroad especially located or set up with <1000 Malaysians residing/studying/working. Adapt Singapores Foreign Affairs practice & approach.
    6. Close down unsuccessful Government projects such as KR1M, Klinik 1Malaysia
    7. Stop the free extended contracts to Ex Official reaching 60 years old. Offer, groom & promote young deserving officials
    8. Kick out long time Gov quarters tenures and offer them to fresh intakes only. This could reduce their living expenses for rental amd no need to propose pay hike. Those working 5 years in any capacity should start moving out from Gov quaters and start renting or buy own property. This will generate the property ownership and boost the economy.
    9. Standardize travelling/accomodation claims for all levels. End of double standards/discrimination for lower pay staffs.
    10. Reduce and cut 50% of the interest for housing/vehicle/personal financing for Gov staffs
Theres a lot of mechanism. Dont just ask for salary increase as there will mutliple effects.
Desicion by Cuepecs is not for your 1.6 million only, it will splash to the remaining 28.4 miilion Rakyat too. Thinklah.
