THE police are investigating Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam on suspicion of illegally distributing pornographic material, specifically sex videos, purportedly of Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, which went viral earlier this week.

A police source told The Malaysian Insight that a Bukit Aman team had confiscated Lokman’s phone to check if it had been used to transmit the videos to other sources.

“This is normal procedure in an investigation. We will return his handphone when we have completed our investigations,” the source told The Malaysian Insight.

According to the source, the police were checking the authenticity of the video, and all parties involved will be called in to record their statements.

“The investigation will focus on the distributor of the videos, their authenticity and the persons in the videos,” said the source.

The police raided Lokman’s house in Kajang on Thursday after he lodged a report on Tuesday over the sex video, which has implicated Azmin and Santubong division PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz.

Lokman had said he also urged investigations into alleged corruption involving Azmin.

Lokman had been arrested with former Padang Serai MP N. Gobalakrishnan for obstructing police investigations after giving his statement to police over the scandal. The two were released yesterday.

Lokman had said that his phone had already been returned to him by the police, but it was still being examined by the Malaysian Multimedia and Communications Commission (MCMC).

“MCMC recorded my statement at noon, while two of my mobile phones were returned at 4pm.

“I’ve been unable to access my iCloud account as the activation code is not sent to this phone but I believe it has been sent to MCMC,” Lokman had said.

MCMC chairman Al-Ishsal Ishak said that the commission was prioritising this case because it involved a senior minister.

He said that the MCMC had been working closely with the police since the videos surfaced on Tuesday.

Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, has denied being in the clips, calling them a “nefarious plot” to destroy his political career.

Haziq, who was picked up by police yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, had confessed to being in the videos, and that he had had multiple sexual encounters with Azmin over the years. – June 15, 2019.
