VACANT People’s Housing Project (PPR) units in Sandakan should be rented out to squatter families made homeless by the fire in Karamunting, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Liew Vui Keong earlier today.

The Batu Sapi MP said he hoped Sabah Local Government and Housing Ministry could speed up the process to help those affected.

Yesterday, a fire razed 23 squatter houses in Karamunting leaving 33 families homeless.

“All the victims who are eligible to apply for PPR units hope that rental of the flats will be allowed. A quick decision to help them must be made,” Liew said. – Bernama, June 9, 2019.
