Anwar shaken after car accident

THE car transporting jailed opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim back to Sg Buloh prison was involved in an accident at around 12.30pm.

Anwar, who is also PKR de facto leader, did not suffer any serious injuries but will be examined by Health Ministry deputy director-general Dr Jeyaindran Sinnathurai, said his lawyer R. Sivarasa in a statement today.

According to Sivarasa, the accident took place at at traffic light junction near Saujana Utama while the convoy was transporting Anwar back to Sg Buloh from Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

“The prison officer driving the car carrying Anwar had to brake sharply to avoid an oncoming car and the escort car behind them knocked into it. The car carrying Anwar suffered damage mainly to the back of the car,” said Sivarasa.

“Anwar fortunately did not suffer any serious physical injuries but was shaken up and has taken painkillers after being examined by the doctor at Sg Buloh Prison.

“Dr Jeyaindran Sinnathurai is scheduled to see him at 5pm today and to decide, after examining him, whether he needs further treatment at a hospital.”

Anwar was hospitalised on Wednesday for unstable blood pressure, his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail told The Malaysian Insight.

He is currently serving a five-year jail sentence for sodomy, a charge the opposition has claimed to be politically motivated. – September 22, 2017.
