A SUSPECT held to assist in investigations into a tahfiz centre fire that killed 23 people last Thursday was taken to the scene of the incident today.

The teenager was seen entering the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah religious school in Jalan Keramat Ujung at 11.50am by policemen.

Police confirmed he is one of seven teenagers, aged between 11 and 18, held to assist investigations. Their remand orders are set to expire tomorrow.

The suspect was taken to the back fence as well as the razed hostel on the top floor of the three-storey building.

After almost an hour at the location, the suspect, who had his head covered, left the premises with police.

More than 10 police personnel and officers from Bukit Aman’s Forensic Unit, which conducted 3D imaging, arrived at the tahfiz centre about 9.40am today.

Based on Bernama’s observation, they appeared to have examined the fence behind the tahfiz centre to obtain fingerprints.
