HINDU activist Arun Dorasamy is not authorised to make public statements on police investigations into Muslim preacher Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Abdullah, said acting Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Huzir Mohamed today.
“He has no authority to make the statement,” Huzir told The Malaysian Insight when asked about Arun’s claim that the deputy public prosecutor has returned the investigation papers to the police.
Arun of the Hindu association Agamam Ani Malaysia had today informed the media viaWhatsApp that police are to interview two more witnesses.
He said the Attorney-General’s Chambers wanted more statements to be taken down before taking Zamri to court over allegations he insulted Hindus in a video posted on social media.
Huzir declined to confirm Arun’s claims.
Zamri, a Hindu who converted to Islam and an associate of controversial Muslim preacher Zakir Naik, was arrested last week after more than 800 police reports were lodged against him.
Zamri is under investigation for disrupting harmony and transmitting offensive communications under Section 298A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. – May 7, 2019.
