THERE is growing concern among family and friends of former Petaling Jaya councillor, Peter Chong Fook Meng, who has been missing since Thursday, after he was confronted by a stranger who remarked he was seen at Pastor Raymond Koh’s vigil.

Chong, 54, was last seen by his son Darryl at their home in Bukit Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur.

Darryl told The Malaysian Insight that the family lodged a police report on his disappearance yesterday and they were questioned by police today.

“My father was last seen on Wednesday night at our home,” the son said without elaborating.

Chong’s disappearance is widely spread on social media since he had posted on his Facebook page on March 31 that he was approached by a stranger who warned him to be careful.

“I was walking for my breakfast at my usual warung. A young motorcyclist rode up, and asked if I live around the area, I asked him back, why?

“He said he recognised me, that I like to go for protests and candlelight vigil. I asked where is he from? I was a little worried and looked around but there were no one else around.

“He said he sokong (supported) what I do. He said tapi ‘mahu hati-hati’ (but, have to be careful)... sekarang banyak orang tiba-tiba hilang (Now, suddenly many have gone missing). Mereka semua tahu mana orang tinggal (they all know where everyone lives).

“I asked, mereka itu siapa (who, are the people)? He just said, pandai-pandai (be smart) la… take care boss… and rode away.”

Chong had also posted on his Twitter account that he had attended Koh’s prayer vigil.

Using the Twitter handle petersubang, he wrote: at At #SSMC with friends from 17 churches in solidarity prayer for Ps # Raymond Koh who has been missing for 50 days…”

Koh, 62, was abducted after a group of well-trained men stopped his silver Honda Accord along Jalan SS4B/10 in Petaling Jaya.

CCTV footage of Koh’s abduction went viral on social media, showing a professionally executed abduction involving more than 10 men in three black SUVs.

Chong’s last positing on Twitter three days ago was “Makanya PRU14 adalah tentang agama: #RUU355- masa hadapan Msia yg sangat membimbangkan” (That’s why GE14 is about religion: # RUU355- Malaysia’s future is very worrying).

Chong, who was a councillor with PJ City Council, served for one term from 2014 to 2015. He was also a former aide to Subang MP R. Sivarasa from PKR. – April 9, 2017.

  • Diabolical, to say the least. Under Najib's mismanagement the country has become a moral black hole.
