A WHITE-ROBED man arrested yesterday for causing a commotion at an event at Bukit Jalil that Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was leaving, tested positive for marijuana, police said.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim said the man, 23, is from Puchong, and has been remanded for three days.

“The man from Puchong was arrested for acting suspiciously and uttering profanities at Lim,” he said.

“He also tested positive for cannabis.”

Media reports yesterday said a man dressed in white and wearing a black jacket loitered behind a group of journalists interviewing Lim after the closing ceremony of 8TV’s Chinese New Year Bazaar at Bukit Jalil Sports Centre about 8.30pm yesterday.

The man was mumbling and one of his hands was inside his jacket pocket.

As Lim was nearing his car door the man suddenly shouted.

A policeman then approached the suspect and asked him what was in his jacket pocket.

The man however refused to take his hand out.

The man began speaking incoherently as police tried to calm him down.

After failing to calm the suspect, police pinned the man down and arrested him.

Lazim said the case is being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act. – January 31, 2019.
