THE body of the driver trapped in an SUV that plunged into the sea on Sunday is intact despite the vehicle being retrieved only today.

Penang police chief T. Narenasagaran said the victim, Moey Yun Peng, 20, was found strapped to the driver’s seat after the SUV was hauled up at KM4 of the Penang Bridge about 6pm.

“The car was badly wrecked due to the crash, but the physical condition of the body was perfect. The seat belt was still fastened,” he told reporters at the scene.

He said the body has been sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem.

He said the operation to retrieve the SUV took three days as the search was hampered by bad weather and strong currents. – Bernama, January 22, 2019.
