OUTGOING Immigration director-general Mustafar Ali will take up his new post as chief executive of the National Financial Crime Centre (NFCC) tomorrow, he said in his farewell message to Immigration staff at a ceremony today.

On secondment from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, his term of service at the Immigration Department ended today.

“This afternoon, I received my letter from the Public Services Commission on my appointment as NFCC’s chief executive,” he told staff at the Immigration headquarters in Putrajaya today.

Mustafar described his new role at the NFCC as a continuation of his work as an MACC officer.

“There are similarities in that we will fight corruption and financial crime.”

Mustafar also announced deputy Immigration director-general (management) Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman as the acting director-general until a permanent replacement was announced.

The Malaysian Insight last week reported that Mustafar was expected to take up the post at the NFCC. He was seconded to the Immigration Department as chief in 2016 and embarked on a clean-up mission as the department had a reputation for being corrupt. – December 31, 2018.

  • The civil service is so short of capable men with integrity that he had to leave for a higher position after such a shot tenure that it is doubtful he has sufficiently cleansed the Department of toxic corruption. We hope his successor will be able to complete the task he has started on.
