THE Housing and Local Government Ministry has appointed a psychologist to carry out crisis intervention sessions and provide moral support for the family of the late Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.

Maznah Hassan, a psychologist from the Criminal Investigation Department, Sexual Crime Branch for the Kedah police headquarters, said she was appointed by the ministry to assist Adib’s family, especially his mother, to ensure they could live life normally.

“Today is my first visit to meet Adib’s family – that is, to meet his mother. I knew how the mother used to be.

“Look at her emotional condition, feelings, and how she accepted and faced Adib’s death,” she told reporters at Adib’s family home in Kg Tebengau, Kuala Kedah.

Maznah said the length of her intervention depended on the positive development of the family, especially the mother.

“There will be other follow-up sessions later. I will come again to meet Adib’s mother and other family members subsequently. I will monitor their development from time to time until their emotions have truly stabilised,”she said.
