DEPUTY Education Minister Teo Nie Ching has come to the aid of a man who bullied a beer promoter at a hypermarket recently.

On her Facebook post today, Teo urged the public to not share the photos of the bully’s children nor the details of the school his children are studying in.

She said she will not allow any children to be discriminated against or bullied in school.

“Let’s end hatred in society, and please do not bring it to the school.

“What he did is totally uncalled for and the promoter does not deserve that. So let’s learn from the girl and do not repeat his mistake.”

A video clip was uploaded showing the man berating a Chinese woman who was working as a beer promoter at the non-halal section of a hypermarket.

In the 45-second clip, the man is heard asking for her race and if she could give beer samples to “anyone”.

He also chastised her for responding in English, saying this was “Bumi Melayu (Malay land)” in which the women cooly responded by asking if he was racist.

The man then used an obscene word on the promoter then made a lewd gesture and left.

It was reported that some people had identified the man in question and published images of his family members.

Earlier, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng lodged a police report over the incident, urging for steps to be taken to solve racial tensions in the country.

Facebook user Khoo RH said “YB, do you know that the moment when the man said the obscene word it was a sexual harassment to the promoter.”

“Yet you focusing in protecting his daughter and ignore the damage of the promoter, Please think again, the whole incident who is the one need to be punished and who need to be protected? Don’t focus on the wrong thing YB, every Msians is observing.”

Daniel Yip asked “How about the poor promoter girl that just doing her job as assigned and get bullied and whether she has any comments (on it).”

Tony George said that this is a persistent problem with both parents and children alike.

“Have you not seen the blatant racism in schools yet? Warn the teachers to stop inciting racism… Thank You.”

Justin Tan said the incident shows that the education system has failed. – November 20, 2018.

  • Agree there is no reason to drag children into this, no matter how wrong the parent is. The children are innocent. We should focus on how to educate children from young to accept people of all races and religion.

  • Lets stop all the hypocrisy especially the politicians. Any one who wants to commit an act be it offensive crime or a samaritan act of kindness it is an act premeditated in response to the situation at that juncture. One do knows about the outcome from the act for similar incidence has shown the examples or where rules of law are in place to deter such ocurrence. The easy way out of an offence which is not of dire consequences and not detrimental to the victim will be an apology which is meaningless and total useless for the damage are done. So if we were to ask this particular guy whether he knows abou the repercussion of his act , very innocently and naturaly he will act stupid . So sometime blame not others in subjucating offenders or even their family to such situation because they themselves asked for it , fully aware that the end result will be very unkind. Lets stop being a saint in the wrong place and the wrong time to perpetuate such offence especially when it hinges on racial unity.
