PAKISTANI Prime Minister Imran Khan will make a two-day official visit to Malaysia beginning tomorrow, his first visit to Malaysia since becoming the prime minister in August.

The visit is at the invitation of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, a Wisma Putra statement said today.

Imran will meet with Dr Mahathir to review “existing bilateral relations and cooperation and identify new areas for future collaboration”.

Last month, Imran had a telephone conversation with Dr Mahathir, during which the former expressed the desire to visit Malaysia at the earliest date possible.

An official welcoming ceremony for Imran will be held on Wednesday at Perdana Square in Putrajaya.

Following their bilateral meeting, Dr Mahathir and Imran will also witness the signing of an agreement by the two governments at the Prime Minister’s Office on the partial abolition of travel visas between the two countries.

Wisma Putra said Imran is scheduled to have an audience with Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Nazrin Shah, who is performing the functions of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Imran is also scheduled to visit the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters.

In 2017, the total bilateral trade between Malaysia and Pakistan was recorded at RM5.76 billion, an increase of 3.5% compared to 2016.
