AZMIN Ali’s declaration of victory as PKR deputy president is premature and may have been made in a moment of excitement, said the party’s outgoing president, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
She said results of the PKR elections were still being counted and tabulated.
“The contest is not over. We still don’t know the final outcome yet, as we are not at the end of the elections.
“Thank you to all KEADILAN members who together voted for a mandate to pursue a genuine reform agenda,” the incumbent deputy president tweeted yesterday.
His tweet came while complete results are yet to be confirmed.
Unofficial results show that Azmin has 68,843 votes compared with Rafizi’s 63,568, resulting in a 5,275-vote lead.
Meanwhile, Rafizi remains confident that he will defeat Azmin once all the votes are counted before PKR’s national congress starts on Friday.
“I am confident that when the full tally is released tomorrow or the day after, I will win by more than 4,500 votes,” he said in a video posted on social media, thanking his supporters in Sarawak.
PKR’s political bureau is to meet tomorrow to determine the outcome of the elections. – November 12, 2018.
