ANOTHER senior official from the Najib era will join the former prime minister and his two aides on the charge sheet next week, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) told The Malaysian Insight.

An MACC source told The Malaysian Insight that the agency has completed investigations into several leaders and senior government officials and are waiting for further instructions from the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

“We are waiting for the green light from the A-G’s Chambers before we can make any arrest,” the source said.

“Our job is to investigate and the A-G will decide on the charge. We are now waiting for the green light.

“We believe there will be a new arrest next week.”

Former prime minister Najib Razak, his wife Rosmah Mansor, former deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, former Treasury secretary-general Irwan Serigar Abdullah, former spy chief Hasanah Abdul Hamid and Najib’s lawyer, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, were those charged with various offences after Pakatan Harapan won federal power in May.

Former Tabung Haji chairman and Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim was remanded earlier this month and has since been released on bail.

Former Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has had reports lodged against him over the development of Taman Rimba Kiara in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said more arrests will be made in connection with the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

Najib has been slapped with 38 charges. Six new charges of criminal breach of trust were brought against him and Irwan yesterday.

Zahid was charged last week with money-laundering, abuse of power and criminal breach of trust involving more than RM114 million.

Some of the charges are linked to his welfare foundation, which builds religious schools, mosques and orphanages.
