ANWAR Ibrahim said his victory in Port Dickson is a milestone and a vote of confidence for the Pakatan Harapan government and its reform agenda.

Speaking to the media after being announced as the winner, Anwar said he was “extremely pleased and humbled by the results”.

“This win is more convincing than what was observed in the last general election when the popular vote for our candidate was 48%, but now we have achieved a remarkable 70% of the popular votes,” he said.

He added that he was satisfied to have garnered support from all ethnic groups.

“The Malays gave me a commanding lead, giving endorsement to PH. The Chinese and the Indians and even the small numbers of Orang Asli communities have given their total endorsement.

“I must express my profound appreciation.”

Anwar, who is now expected to be sworn in as MP on Monday, said he spoke to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad after winning the by-election.

“He was pleased with the results,” he said, adding his appreciation to Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin for campaigning in Port Dickson despite his health problems.

The main task now, he said, was to focus on assisting “our leaders in Parliament to ensure we embark on all effective parliamentary reforms”. – October 13, 2018.

  • But sadly this controversial dinner damages DSAIs reputation and image. Why is he having a grand dinner (last night) with members of an organised Triad? No DAP members were apparently at the dinner event!

  • You have proof that the organizers were members of the Triad? Go make a police report then. Steadyaku 47 is a purveyor of fiction and not facts. Who is paying him to write rubbish?

  • So many have accused Anwar Ibrahim of being entirely self-centered & power-hungry... never pausing for a moment to consider that anyone who doesn't possess those attributes is likely to be so far removed from the political arena as to not feature at all in the game of thrones. I wonder how long Anwar's ardent detractors would last in active politics if they suddenly found themselves constantly in the public eye, every move scrutinized & attacked, by people who loudly claim to be loyal supporters one day & then backstab him the next.

    • Whatever you tried to paint about him, please remember what he did when he was ex-DPM under UMNO.
