THE biggest threat to PKR is the rise of party leaders plotting the political demise of Anwar Ibrahim and the reformasi (reform) movement, said party vice-president hopeful S. Kesavan at a rally in Sabah last night.

Kesavan accused PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and his loyalists of being the “real problem” in the party.

“PKR’s most troubling problem right now is that the party needs a leader who is sincere and really wants to be prime minister.

“PKR doesn’t need a leader who on the outside looks loyal to the party but behind, plotting for the failure of the true reformasi movement,” he said at a campaign dinner with supporters in Kota Kinabalu last night.

Kesavan is running under deputy president candidate Rafizi Ramli’s team, which has been increasingly caustic in their attacks against Azmin, whom they tag as a growing force opposed to Anwar’s ascension to the prime minister post.

Kesavan challenged Azmin to spell out his support for Anwar as the eighth prime minister after Dr Mahathir Mohamad steps down.

“Ask the present deputy president why until today, he has not come forward and state his full support towards Anwar as the next prime minister.

“So, this is the real problem in PKR and, therefore, the reason we are calling for a change in the party’s leadership.”

Present yesterday were Rafizi, PKR Wanita Chief candidate Fuziah Salleh and Selayang MP William Leong Jee Keen.

  • Disappointed with the attitude of PKR especially Rafizi.challenge with respect and dignity There is no proof on the allegations made on Azmin. What is the difference between you and UMNO.I am more convinced that Tun should continue being the PM until PKR stabilizes itself

  • Azmin was happy just being MB of Selangor. He did not even asked for a Minister post. He only accepted when he was offered the Minister position. This shows his true character of being a man of service and can be truly trusted.

  • From one idiot leads to another idiot battle cries for Anwar "must be the PM". In all honesty are we seeing only self serving interest rather than the ethical approach in hierarchy and merits to warrant a position. All the hue cries of reformasi are just another charade to justify the needs of one to be in that high position. Let's be honest and look at the truthful situation of how much actual reforms benefitting rakyat as a whole has been in placed rather than only the insignificant changes. It has been the battle cries of PKR since inceptions and yet when they are in power in some states and also with a substantiate MPs in the parliament, we see not the passion in amending changes to the calls of reforms being heavily pursue except for the same old same old excuses that they do not control the federal and not in Putra Jaya. What about now ?? it seems that being in the position as high powered politicians are the priority, be it Anwar himsel and his family , Rafizi or even Azmin. Reformasi was "the word" to use to free Anwar and now again being recycled for Rafizi cause and advancement to be the second man in the party but never in the actual implementation to revamp Malaysia forward. The word "REFORM" it self is scared for it requires sincere efforts from many to meliorate Malaysia after 61 years of nonsensical Ketuanan regime. It seems it is now just a dirty word of actions for some to achive their agenda. The hopes of Malysia falls on the younger generation without any attachment to the previous regime of Umno BN and also the other parties of PPBM and PKR where the Umno DNAs of greed , corruption and power crazy are heavily infused into their members. PKR will implode soon for it is PKR as the sole party itself the cause for internal turmoil due to personal interest and self serving priority pemeating in all all levels. Anwar is too obsesive in his quest to be a PM and comes what may to achieve that, the falls out are expandable.
