BARISAN Nasional’s candidate in the Sungai Kandis by-election Lokman Noor Adam will convene a meeting with PAS leaders in the state constituency to get them to join his campaign to win the hearts of Malay voters there.

He said the meeting would likely be held next week.

“I have contacted my friends from PAS… to discuss the possibility of us (BN) working together with PAS branch leaders here during the campaign.

“But I have to focus on meeting BN leaders here first, so maybe I will meet PAS leaders on Wednesday or Thursday,” he said in Klang today.

The by-election, which is being called following the death of incumbent Shuhaimi Shafiei of PKR on July 2, sees a three-cornered fight between Lokman, PKR’s Zawawi Ahmad Mughni and independent K. Murthy.

Meanwhile, Lokman said the difficulties in obtaining business licences would be among the first issues he would solve if given the mandate.

“During my visit to the market today, many traders expressed their dissatisfaction with the difficulties they faced in obtaining a business licence.

“They also complained about the presence of so many foreign traders here. The state government has to act sternly to overcome this problem.” – Bernama, July 22, 2018.
