LOW Taek Jho should return to Malaysia to assist in investigations into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

MACC chief Mohd Shukri Abdull said instead of investigators going to Dubai – where Low is believed to be – the businessman should come back to Malaysia to facilitate investigations.

“Come back to Malaysia. There is no need for us to go there (Dubai),” he told reporters in a press conference after a book launch.

Low has told the 1MDB special task force that he was willing to meet them in Dubai, government sources said.

As a precursor to that meeting, his lawyers are expected have a sit-down with MACC and discuss areas in which their client can assist in the probe involving the siphoning off billions of ringgit from the state-owned entity.

Shukri said today not only were Malaysian agencies seeking the Penang-born businessman but other foreign authorities, too.

Last week, the MACC raided Low’s high-end apartment in Kuala Lumpur.

A warrant of arrest has been issued on Low to assist in the 1MDB probe. – July 3, 2018.
