Jho Low tells lawyers to contact MACC

WANTED billionaire financier Low Taek Jho has instructed his lawyers to get in touch with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

This follows reports that the anti-graft agency wants to question him regarding SRC International Sdn Bhd, once a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

“Through media reports dated June 7, 2018, Mr Low was made aware of MACC requesting his assistance,” a spokesman for the businessman, also known as Jho Low, said in a statement.

“Following this, Mr Low immediately instructed his lawyers to make contact with MACC today, with respect to offering such assistance.”

In a statement today, MACC said it is seeking Low and Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil to assist in its investigations into SRC International.

The agency said Nik Faisal has valuable information as he was a director and CEO of SRC International when the company was established in 2011.

MACC revealed Nik Faisal’s MyKad number and his last known address – Nos. 17 and 19, Jalan Tun Teja 35/16, Alam Impian, Shah Alam, Selangor.

Low is known to be former prime minister Najib Razak’s confidant and business adviser.

The US Department of Justice has accused him of masterminding the 1MDB scandal, which saw billions siphoned from the state investor.

Although he never held an official position in 1MDB, Low is said to be among the beneficiaries of the funds that were subsequently used to purchase luxury properties and assets, including a super yacht, paintings and jewellery.

His whereabouts have been unknown for some time.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad recently said the government “roughly knows” where to find the businessman.

Low’s last known address is No. 69, Tanjung Bungah Park, Tanjung Bungah, Penang.

Members of the public with information on both men are urged to contact the investigation officer, Senior Assistant Commissioner Rosli Husain, at 03-8870-0529 or 010-318-7757, or email him at [email protected].

They can also notify the nearest MACC office. – June 7, 2018.
