Red Giants will get back Shah Alam Stadium if BN wins GE14, says Najib

THE Selangor football squad will return to play at Shah Alam Stadium if Barisan Nasional recaptures the state in the 14th general election, said Prime Minister Najib Razak.

He said he was giving the assurance as he fully understood the feelings of youth in Selangor on the issue.

“We will hand Shah Alam Stadium back to the Red Giants,” he said during the closing ceremony for the Malaysia 4B Youth Movement Day celebrations in Kg Ulu Chucuh, Sepang, today.

The Selangor team has been denied access to Shah Alam Stadium following a tiff between the Football Association of Selangor and state government that was sparked in 2016, which led to the footballers seeking other venues.

Cheras’ Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium has been made the home venue for Selangor, for the Malaysia League competition this season.

Najib said he would ensure that the rights of the Selangor State Youth Council over the Selangor State Youth and Culture Complex in Section 7, Shah Alam, were reinstated if BN won the state in GE14.

Earlier, state BN chairman Noh Omar said the PKR-led state government, under the leadership of Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, had marginalised youth.

He said the Shah Alam Stadium and youth complex issues were examples of Selangor residents being denied their rights, and forced to become “refugees” in their own state.

“If 4B Youth rise up to ensure BN’s victory in Selangor, BN will hand the youth complex back to young people.

“If BN wins, Shah Alam Stadium will be handed back to the Red Giants.” – Bernama, February 11, 2018.
