Penang turns fully red with 1,144 virus cases

ALL of Penang has been declared a Covid-19 red zone as the number of active cases in the state rose to 1,144.

The Timur Laut and Barat Daya districts on the island lead the tally with 430 and 406 cases, respectively.

On the mainland, Seberang Perai Utara, which was an orange zone, has turned red after cases reached 57.

Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan have respectively reported 70 and 181 cases.

 Other states and territories that are fully red zones are Selangor, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, and Malacca. 

According to data from the Health Ministry, Perlis is the only state to maintain green zone status for being infection-free.

Areas with 41 cases and more are classified red zones; 20 to 40 cases, orange; and one to 19, yellow. – January 4, 2021.
