Compulsory Covid-19 screening for foreign workers starting January

EMPLOYERS are required to ensure their foreign workers are screened for Covid-19 starting January 1.

Human Resources Minister M. Saravanan said the cost of the test would be borne by the employer.

“Foreign workers who contribute to the Social Security Organisation can be screened at clinics appointed by Socso,” he said in a statement today.

He said the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Fees for Coronavirus Disease 2019 Detection Test) Regulations 2020 are expected to be enforced soon and any employer who fails to comply to the rules would be subject to the appropriate action. – Bernama, December 21, 2020.
