99 active Covid-19 clusters, six new

SIX new Covid-19 clusters have been identified in the last 24 hours, escalating the total number of active clusters in the country to 99, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

The director-general of health said the six clusters are the Tinusa cluster, Sauh cluster, Jambu cluster, Sofi cluster, Bah Mutiara cluster and Umboo cluster. 

Noor Hisham said a total of 113 cases have been reported in the six new clusters, with the Sofi cluster contributing the highest number with 34 cases. 

The Sofi cluster involves the Seremban district in Negeri Sembilan. A total of 160 people have been screened with 34 reporting positive results, 11 negative and 115 awaiting results. 

The Tinusa cluster involves the Sandakan district in Sabah, where out of 586 people screened, 33 tested positive, 486 negative and 67 pending results.

The Sauh cluster involves two districts – Kota Kinabalu and Papar – in Sabah and one district (Miri) in Sarawak. 

A total of 149 people have been screened in this cluster, where 17 positive cases were recorded while the rest tested negative. 

The Jambu cluster, which involves the Hulu Langat district in Selangor, had 15 positive cases out of 139 screened. The rest tested negative. 

The Bah Mutiara cluster involves the Hulu Langat district in Selangor and Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai districts in Kuala Lumpur. 

Ninety-six individuals have been tested so far with 10 positive cases recorded, while 86 others tested negative. 

Finally the Umboo cluster, which involves the Alor Gajah district in Malacca, has four positive cases from 373 individuals screened so far. 

As many as 218 tested negative, while 151 are still waiting for results. 

A total of 207 clusters have so far been reported in Malaysia with 108 coming to an end. 

Out of 99 active clusters, 39 are still reporting new daily cases.  – October 22, 2020.
