BERSATU is carrying out an internal investigation against Osman Sapian, who was recently spotted attending at least two Pejuang events, said Hamzah Zainuddin

The party secretary-general said the party wanted to be sure before taking disciplinary action against the former Johor menteri besar.

“Yes, we have received complaints about him. But as what we have done with the other former Bersatu leaders, whatever decision we want to take, we need to be sure first.

“When we are sure, we will take action according to the party constitution,” he told reporters tonight at Bersatu’s fourth anniversary celebration in Kuala Lumpur.

Osman, who is Kempas assemblyman, was seen campaigning with Pejuang during the Slim by-election and was again spotted last Sunday at another Pejuang event to felicitate its workers who had taken part in the Perak assembly by-election.

Meanwhile, Hamzah denied that 70% of its members have left the party, saying only 247 had left so far.

“The numbers (that left) are very small. We started in 2017 with 46,000 members. Now, we have registered 500,000 members nationwide,” he said at Bersatu’s fourth anniversary celebrations in Kuala Lumpur.

He was responding to former Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir, who claimed that 70% of Bersatu’s members have left and joined Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s new party Pejuang.

Hamzah also told the members to not worry about others’ propaganda and it is more important to be sincere and honest.

He said the party is now targeting to get one million members by the end of the year. – September 8, 2020.
