MUKHRIZ Mahathir will remain as the Kedah menteri besar as his party Bersatu is set to form alliance with Pakatan Harapan parties at the state level.

The Bersatu deputy president said his party’s exit from PH at federal level would not affect the Kedah government.

“The state elected reps from PH and Bersatu have expressed their support for me to remain as Kedah menteri besar.

“PH and Bersatu reps are united in agreeing that the state government should remain as it is,” he told reporters at his official residence Sri Mentaloon in Alor Setar, Kedah.

He was flanked by PH and Bersatu assemblymen at the press conference.

Earlier, Mukhriz met Kedah ruler Sultan Sallahuddin Badlishah to explain the political status of the state government.

Kedah was one of four states in trouble after Bersatu’s decision to leave PH on Monday.

In Kedah, without Bersatu (6), PH backed by DAP (4), PKR (7) and Amanah (2) has fewer seats than the opposition – PAS and Umno.

Umno and PAS, which formed a political cooperation last September, have a total of 17 seats, with PAS (15) and Umno (2). – February 27, 2020.
