THE Attorney-General will sue Raja Petra Kamarudin for defamation if the blogger fails to say sorry for two of his articles.

“I’m waiting for him to apologise. If he doesn’t do it, I will sue. I don’t know why he named me (in his articles) when I don’t even know him,” said Mohamed Apandi Ali in Putrajaya today.

Apandi said any legal action he chose to pursue would be in his personal capacity.

“Although the libellous article implicated the Attorney-General’s Office, the attorney-general is still Mohamed Apandi. The suit will be filed in my personal capacity,” he added.

Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra alleged in two articles “Strong rumours surrounding AG Parts 1 & 2” that Apandi had asked for RM4 million from a businessman who had won a suit.

Apandi lodged a police report in Kuantan and Putrajaya. The AG’s Chambers office also lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

A wrathful Apandi Ali vowed last week to sue Raja Petra “till kingdom come” over the articles  article posted on the latter’s blog on Friday,

“I am seriously going to sue and am consulting my lawyer friends in the UK. This is nothing but fake news done with evil intention,” he was quoted saying in The Star Online.

Apandi had rubbished the claims in the articles posted on the  blog Malaysia-Today.

Raja Petra is living in exile in the UK after fleeing sedition and criminal defamation charges in Malaysia in 2006, over a string of stories he published linking Prime Minister Najib Razak and wife, Rosmah Mansor to the murder of Mongolian model and translator Shaariibuugiin Altantuya. – October 31, 2017.
