PARENTS need to spend quality time with their children with no interference from the use of gadgets, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim.

“It is during such quality time that parents are able to take the opportunity to communicate directly with their children and get to know about matters concerning their children or they (parents) themselves,” she said in her speech at the pre-launch of the 1Malaysia National Family Month today.

Her speech text was read by National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) chairman Mariam Mas Yacob. Also present was LPPKN director-general Siti Norlasiah Ismail.

Rohani also called on the people to partake in the national-level BKK1M celebration launch at Kepong Metropolitan Park on November 4 from 10am.

Today’s pre-launch saw some 2,500 people comprising parents and their children, including 30 autistic ones participating in the ‘Kidzathon: Heroes In The City’ run, organisation by the ministry through LPPKN together with Urban Health Sdn Bhd.

When met by reporters, Siti Norlasiah said LPPKN wished to see more companies in this country hold ‘Family Day’ events to promote work-life balance. – Bernama, October 29, 2017.
