PKR must take severe action against its youth wing deputy chief for insubordination after insisting party deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali launches the wing’s congress in Malacca next month, said youth vice-chief Thiban Subbramaniam.

Thiban accused youth deputy chief Muhammad Hilman Idham, who is aligned with Azmin, of going against an earlier decision for former president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to open the wing’s congress.

“Hilman’s decision to invite someone else without the approval of the wing’s leadership is clearly in breach of regulations.

“He is also irresponsible and acted drastically in calling for a meeting over the decision,” Thiban said in a statement.

He also slammed Hilman for missing the wing’s monthly meetings.

“I urge the central leaderhip to take severe action against Hilman.”

Yesterday, Hilman said the wing should stick with tradition and allow the deputy president to launch the congress.

His call was supported by some youth leaders.

Azmin had said the decision of the youth wing to snub him was an attempt to suppress him in the party.

Last week, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said the decision to invite Wan Azizah instead of Azmin would stay despite protests. – November 21, 2019.
