Langkawi authorities ordered to investigate sect

THE Islamic Religious Office in Langkawi has been instructed to investigate the existence of a new deviant group on one of the islands there after a video of the movement has gone viral on social media.

Kedah Islamic Religious Affairs Department Abdul Rahman Ismail advised Muslims not to be deceived by the movement, and to lodge a report should they come across teachings that deviated from the true teachings of Islam.

He also advised imam to engage with their congregation so that they would not be lured by deviationist teachings.

The video on the alleged deviationist movement on Pulau Tuba showed a man, believed to be the leader, giving a talk on Islam which deviated from the true teachings of the religion and pictures of a house and hut where the movement carried out its activities. – Bernama, October 18, 2017.
