POLICE may ban South Indian politician Senthamilan Seeman from entering Malaysia if they can get evidence of his links to Sri Lankan terror group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Bukit Aman’s Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division (E8) principle assistant director Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Seeman had entered Malaysia a few times to meet politicians.

Seeman, who is the chief coordinator of the Naam Tamilar Katchi political party in Tamil Nadu, is allegedly a supporter of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and is said to be working towards the group’s revival.

However, Ayob Khan said police will have to work on solid evidence first before banning Seeman, and they hoped to derive information from 12 Malaysians detained in the last few days.

“It will depend on the investigation on the 12 detainees. We will have to see how deep is his (Seeman) role in promoting or channeling money to LTTE elements in Malaysia.

“If there is a reason, we will request Immigration to stop him from coming in,” Ayob told a press conference at Bukit Aman today.

The Malaysian Insight reported earlier today that Naam Tamilar is the link for a group of Malaysians, including some prominent politicians, in trying to keep the spirit of the Tamil Tigers alive.

At least one of the seven men arrested on Thursday has close links with Seeman and NTK.

Among the seven detainees are two DAP elected representatives, Gadek assemblyman G. Saminathan, who is also a Malacca executive councillor, and Seremban Jaya assemblyman P. Gunasekaran.

Another five people were arrested yesterday, bringing the total to 12.

Police have not ruled out more arrests.

Several other Malaysian VIPs are also being monitored. – October 13, 2019
