A JUVENILE charged with the murder of Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan was allegedly assaulted sexually while being held in detention, his lawyer told the Shah Alam High Court today.

Lawyer Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, representing the boy and another juvenile, urged the court to transfer the boy from the detention centre in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur to Puncak Alam in Shah Alam, Selangor.

“The allegation was that he was sexually and physically assaulted by the other inmates at the detention centre,” Hisyam told the court.

Earlier, the juveniles and Nazrin’s widow pleaded not guilty to the murder.

Judge Ab Karim Ab Rahman said he wants the lawyers to apply formally for a transfer.

“I can’t do anything based on your (lawyers’) complaints. Where is the evidence?”

Hisyam said they are prepared to give evidence on the assault.

The detention centre is not suitable for the boy, he said, and will get the father to lodge a police report.

  • Innocent until proven guilty. This two young boys may be innocent therefore should not be put into a hardcore juvenile detention Centre. They will be scarred for life when they leave the juvenile Centre if proven innocent. The child protection act should come in [if there is any) to protect them.
