Ex-Umno member Mas Ermieyati joins Bersatu

MASJID Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin is the latest ex-Umno MP to join Bersatu.

The former Puteri Umno chief announced her move today, saying she wanted the best for voters in her constituency and wanted to be able to serve them more effectively.

“After consultations and thinking the matter over carefully, I have made the decision to join Bersatu,” she said in a statement today.

“I believe this is the best path to take in a Malaysia that is plural and diverse,” she added, thanking her constituents for their support.

Mas Ermieyati had been an independent MP since quitting Umno in June after the party held internal elections. She said Umno failed to elect a line-up that showed it could accept change following its defeat in the 14th general election.

“I wish to help Bersatu as a component party of the government in advancing the agenda of young women so that they are ensured a bright future in Malaysia.

Mas Ermieyati joins ex-Umno MPs Mustapa Mohamed (Jeli) and Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali (Bagan Serai), both of whom joined Bersatu. – December 13, 2018.
