LABUAN MP Rozman Isli has joined Parti Warisan Sabah, saying it is a move made in the interest of the island federal territory’s future.

However, he made no mention of resigning from Umno, but noted that joining Warisan will see him expelled from the party.

“Due to the unique economic conditions in Malaysia now and compared with other parliamentary constituencies in the country, I have made this decision.

“In a nutshell, Labuan needs to be empowered to move ahead fast and quick,” he said.

Rozman said this during his meeting with International Trade and Industries Minister Darell Leiking who is on a one-day working visit to Labuan today.

Umno now has 48 lawmakers in the Dewan Rakyat.

Rozman is the latest Umno MP to have abandoned the party after Kimanis MP Anifah Aman, Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed and Bagan Serai’s Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali.

Warisan will now have a total of nine MPs.

Rozman said the decision to join the state party came after taking a long and careful consideration the views of many parties.

He said the crossing over of elected representatives is not unusual as it is part of a mature democratic process.

Rozman said he shared the views of other Sabah and Sarawak leaders on the Malaysia Agreement 1963, and this influenced his decision to join Warisan. – October 11, 2018.

  • Rozman must officially resign from DUMNO before he is accepted into Warisan. This is for record purposes to show that the candidate on his own free will and without coercion, made the decision (to leave DUMNO & Join Warisan.
Dont ever accept his application until he resigns.
