Foreign workers enjoy Raya in KL, but home is where the heart is

Ravin Palanisamy

WHILE most Malaysians head back to their hometowns to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, many Muslim migrant workers took advantage of their off days to gather and celebrate with their communities in Kuala Lumpur.

Commercial districts like Pasar Seni, Medan Pasar and Masjid Jamek were bustling with activity as workers from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and India met up with their friends.

Dressed in their Raya best, they began the day by attending morning prayers at Masjid Jamek followed by breakfast and and a stroll around the city to catch up with one another.

As they made the most of their day, workers met by The Malaysian Insight still missed their family and held their home countries close to their heart. - June 16, 2018.
