Carrying votes and hopes for a better Malaysia

WHEN Elvie Yap saw on her social media feed that many of her friends would not be able to send their postal votes back to Malaysia in time, she volunteered to deliver them from Australia – by hand.

Yap, who has worked and lived in Perth for the past 15 years, said that she and many of her friends still consider Malaysia home and that this election could not afford to lose any votes. This was supported by the overwhelming feeling that Dr Mahathir Mohamad could change the tide.

In a short campaign organised by Global Bersih, Yap carried 90 postal votes back from Perth, which were collected by another runner to be sent to different states.

Yap believes that Malaysia’s potential can be brought out by a good government. – June 5, 2018.
