Puasa4Malaysia sees surge in participants after GE14

THE fifth edition of Puasa4Malaysia received an encouraging response after a historic election which saw the 60-year-old Barisan Nasional government voted out of power.

More than 100 participants broke fast together at Pusat Komuniti Bukit Bandaraya, Kuala Lumpur, on May 31, 2018, including Petaling Jaya Member of Parliament Maria Chin Abdullah, activist Marina Mahathir and cartoonist Zunar.

The annual event aims to instil unity by bringing people from all walks of life together through fasting.

Puasa4Malaysia organiser, Azrul Mohd Khalib, said he would only see about 30 people before this, but after the 14th general election, the usual cynicism has turned into a sense of “purpose, unity and hope”. - May 31, 2018.
