Free music lessons as an outlet in war-torn Yemen

In war-torn and impoverished Yemen, music teacher Abdullah Al-Deby offers free music lessons and an outlet to his students, eager to escape the conflict that has killed nearly 10,000 people triggering what the United Nations has called the world’s worst current humanitarian crisis.

He has two music degrees in Arabic and Western music and aims to create a new generation of musicians.

Al-Deby was part of a 40-musician national band created in 1975. The band included all types of instruments and performed locally and internationally for 6 years before breaking up in 1981. - AFP, March 26, 2018
