FOOD Aid Foundation, in collaboration with the Penang Chef Association, have taken on the mammoth task of providing free food to the victims of the recent devastating floods in Penang and the good Samaritans who are helping them.

The disaster affected some 100,000 households in the state, with 12,559 people having to be evacuated from their homes.

A total of 1,000 lunch and 1,000 dinner boxes are being distributed to flood victims and volunteers for this three-day mission that started last Friday.

Some 50 volunteers from various companies, schools and colleges were involved in the project with 10 cooks preparing the halal meals.

Food Aid Foundation, a non-profit food bank, seeks to rescue surplus food from the supply chain and distribute it to people in need. – 13 November, 2017.
