Food Aid Foundation: Waste not, want not

EVERY day in Malaysia, 15,000 tonnes of food, of which 3,000 tonnes are still fit for consumption, are consigned to landfills and blithely dumped into drains, rivers and by the roadsides.

Food Aid Foundation is a food bank which rescues edible but surplus food and groceries from manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers. These include items that are out of specifications, close to expiry, incorrectly labelled, with damaged packaging, and discontinued,  as well as excess stock and customer returns.

With expertise and a comprehensive food handling system that ensures safety of consumption, the organisation helps to reduce food wastage while chaneling food to those who need it. – April 18, 2017.
