Tora Aman bids sayonara to Malaysia

MANGA publisher Tora Aman, which translates comics from Japanese to Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin, announced recently on Facebook that it was closing down because of rising costs. It started in 1993, publishing famous titles, such as popular Japanese cartoon Doraemon.

Founder John Baptist Chong Kok Ah describes ‘Doraemon (is) the bridge between the different races’.

Many fans were upset on hearing the news of its closure because manga was part of their childhood and it also means, they will no longer be able to read their favourite titles in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.

The Malaysian Insight takes a look at the final month of Tora Aman’s operations in Selangor.
