THE annual Agenda Suria Deepavali Carnival is a shopping haven for those who are looking to deck out at a bargain.

The 10-day event currently held at Bukit Jalil this year features 400 stalls by local and international vendors who sell everything from clothes and jewellery to food and decorations.

Prices here are typically lower than those in shops, sometimes by half the price.

Shailja Vinayek, a vendor selling clothes, told The Malaysian Insight that one of the reasons for the low pricing is the absence of middlemen and manufacturers are able to sell products directly to consumers.

The carnival is now in its 17th year and will go on until the eve of Deepavali, when the crowd will surely swell with last-minute shoppers and prices drop even further. - November 4, 2018.
