THE Prime Minister’s Office today announced the appointment of Allianz Malaysia chief executive officer Zakri Mohd Khir as the new chairman of the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

His appointment is effective from October 8, it said in a statement.

Zakri, who replaces Aseh Che Mat, has 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He was also a fellow of the Malaysian Insurance Institute in 2016.

He is also the first Malaysian to be made country manager of Allianz Malaysia.

Zakri was also previously head of the operations division of Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd.

Earlier this week, Putrajaya had announced top appointments involving personalities from the corporate sector for several government institutions.

Maybank Asset Management Group chairman Hasnita Hashim was appointed Majilis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman.

Malaysia Palm Oil Association (MPOA) CEO Mohd Nageeb Ahmad Abdul Wahab was made Felcra Bhd chairman. –  September 29, 2018.
