NAJIB Razak is expected to be charged with abuse of power in relation to the RM2.6 billion “donation” allegedly received from Saudi royals, said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The former prime minister was detained over the matter at its headquarters today at 4.13pm, MACC said in a statement.

“Najib will face several charges under Section 23 (1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009. Najib will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Thursday at 3pm,” it said.

MACC is currently working with the police to record Najib’s statement before he is taken to court tomorrow.

Police are investigating the Pekan MP under the Money Laundering Act and Anti-Money Laundering, Anti Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

Najib has always maintained that the money was from the Saudis but investigators believe the RM2.6 billion was siphoned off state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad through a complex web of transactions. – September 19, 2018.

  • Is it catch and release on bail and later on catch again to be released. When is it going to stick for good. The trial is in Feb next year. Why can't the trial be proceeded this year ???. The feet dragging is getting to be an annoyance as the rakyat knows that there are enough of evidences to charge and haul him to jail pending the other many charges to load him up.

  • As much as I .hate what Ex PM Najib and his cronies has done to our country, we must uphold the rule of law. Concrete evidence must exist so that the New Malaysia will not be like BN UMNO rule before. NO ONE should be above the law and every politician should be made accountable for their actions. We need to . uphold this
