Others will lead us if Malay-Muslims fail, warns Hadi

IF Malay-Muslims are unable to lead, the leadership will then be taken by others, warned PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

He said the current Pakatan Harapan (PH) government was dominated by non-Muslims, and Malays only have themselves to blame for it.

“It is the Malays who have voted PH in. But history has shown that advancements can only come when Islam (Muslims) leads,” said Hadi in his closing remarks at the 64th PAS annual congress (muktamar) in Kuala Terengganu today.

Hadi said that if Malay-Muslims don’t want to lead, God will convert other races into Islam to lead.

He said that Turkey was originally a non-Muslim nation but God converted them and the nation, not the Arabs, then led the world.

“If the Chinese and Indians also accept Islam, then they will be the leaders. So, don’t be angry as it was our own mistake,” said Hadi.

Meanwhile, he stressed that loyalty was one of the cornerstones of PAS’ strength and members must continue to have faith in its leaders.

Using the example of Treaty of Hudaibiyah, which was negotiated by Prophet Muhammad, Hadi said many of the prophet’s lieutenants did not agree with their leader.

“But as a result of that, Medina was recognised as a country,” said Hadi.

He said that members must trust their leaders to do what was best for them.

“In that incident, there were aspects of the agreement that the prophet could not disclose to everyone. But in the end it helped them,” said the religious scholar.

The Treaty of Hudaibiyah is an important milestone in the history of Islam as it allowed Muslims to re-enter Mecca, recognised Prophet Muhammad as the leader of his people and accepted Medina as an Islamic state.

The 70-year-old Marang MP also highlighted how Muslim-majority Turkey has now partnered Russia to fight the United States’ sanctions against them.

“When they partnered with Russia, they did not become communists. Otherwise, they could not fight against the US alone,” said Hadi.

“That’s why we are willing to hold talks with Umno.”

The question of loyalty and trust was raised as PAS delegates mandated its central leadership and Syura Council to determine the type of political partnerships for the party before the next national elections.

At the heart of this mandate is the authority to hold discussions with its long-time rival Umno, which has met with some resistance from Youth delegates on Friday.

Hadi, nevertheless, stressed that any cooperation with Umno would hinge on the common agreement that Islam is upheld and that the leadership must be Islamic.

“There is no reformation without Islam.” – September 16, 2018.

  • Would anyone in their right mind take this guy seriously? Most of the Muslim nations are unstable & facing economic & political problems. More often than not, they need help from non muslim countries. Even muslim refugees from Arab countries seek help from europe. This guy is delusional.

  • Scare mongering by Hadi as usual. Turkey led the world? My foot. In fact most Islamic countries are facing economic crisis, political instability, killing of each other and wars.

    • Hadi is just vituperating nonsense of course! One reason for example we can see in Kelantan that after 20 years later of rule by PAS this state still remains underdeveloped and cash strapped, so much so that Putrajaya has to give them monetary aid to pay salaries of civil servants, etc and other aid to get by? True or not? Dr. Mahathir was quoted on MI here last week that Kelantanese are talented people but they have to seek work in other states as no jobs existed at home. PAS should therefore voluntarily invite Dr. Mahathir (whom Hadi had praised just a few days ago, maybe to get more state aid) to take over Kelantan and develop it to create jobs?

    • Also Minister of Finance, Guan Eng, recently told Kelantan to manage its finances better..

    • Also didn't the GE14 election loss in May show misrule & poor management of Malaysia's finances by a predominantly Malay-Muslim govt, with many forthcoming court cases on corruption and money laundering? Even about 25% informed and concerned Malays abandoned UmnoBN to give their vote to Pakatan with hope for a better future. We are grateful to them for this chance to correct past abuses and help put things right by a highly qualified and knowledgeable group of people led by the experienced and accomplished Dr. Mahathir! So our history since Merdeka shows it is best to stick to the power-sharing arrangement (with all major racial groups involved, also now from Sabah & Sarawak) given to us by our British colonial rulers. The Malays are included by virtue of their rights guaranteed in our Constitution.

    • When Malaysia is properly administered with no or little corrupt practices there is enough money to help all needy groups, and roll out welfare schemes like an expanded Selangor-type Peduli Sihat programme at the national level..

    • On Hadi's reference to Turkey above. Turkey is a European EU Muslim country where I think a liberal form of enlightened Islam is practised? Is it true Turkish people generally don't pray 5 times a day? Is it true they generally don't practise ritual slaughter of animals publicly which can be considered archaic & bloodthirsty?..

  • Hadi -- you have a twisted mind!!!!. What rubbish about your style of Muslim in leading the country. You have your ownself shamed your Islam religion by turning deaf and dumb on all the ills from Umno and yet you are cohabiting with unsatisfied perversion. All over the world Muslim has become problematic and could not even govern their country to ensure peace. The buchering and slitting of throats are now a norm in Muslim countries and yet sillily project the cause of the turmoils are caused by kafir. The greates joke is that you speak thru' your back orifice and trying to feel piously important of your religion but when you are struck by Almighty you did not go to your Muslim countries to sought for treatment but it has to be a kafir country that treated you. Do we need to go further than that to expose your devilish hypocrisy. Stop your idiotic statement for the next round could be your last as Almighty do not want any more nonsense from you.

Hadi only complete Std 3 and cannot understand basic English , that is why he cannot understand 1MDB. No wonder Kelantan is a fail state!

  • Religion is important, putting food on the table is most important. Look at how many from Kelantan and Terengganu are employed in other states because there are no suitable jobs available. They need help from the Federal government this says a lot about how the states are managed. All the top posts are headed by Muslims the last 60 years and look what happened? Still putting the blame on non-Muslims? You must be a jerk.
