PKR has suspended its Kedah chief coordinator for party polls with immediate effect after he was detained along with another man by the anti-graft authorities for alleged bribery in the PKR elections.

“He was in charge of party polls in Kedah. He has been suspended and will be replaced by  someone else,” PKR central election committee chairman Rashid Din told The Malaysian Insight.

However, he said it was up to the party leadership to decide whether both men remained as party members.

It was reported today that MACC had arrested two men, aged 48 and 46, for allegedly asking RM20,000 from a man to keep his name in a database as a registered candidate so that he could contest in polls for the Kedah branch leadership.

Kedah MACC director Mohd Fauzi Mohamad later confirmed the arrests.

Both men were arrested yesterday – one at a restaurant in Alor Star and the other at the Pendang toll gate.

Authorities also confiscated RM10,000 cash from both suspects. – September 16, 2018.
