TWO men have been arrested by the anti-graft authorities for alleged bribery in the PKR elections in Kedah, the New Straits Times reported.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) sources said a 48-year-old and 46-year-old allegedly asked for RM20,000 from a man to keep his name in a database as a registered candidate so that he could contest in polls for the Kedah branch leadership.
“The suspects allegedly told the man that his name, as well as those of several other individuals, would otherwise be dropped from the list of candidates,β NST quoted the source as saying.
Kedah MACC director Mohd Fauzi Mohamad later confirmed the arrests.
Both men were arrested yesterday; one at a restaurant in Alor Star and the other at the Penang Plus toll gate.
Also confiscated was RM10,000 cash from both suspects, who will be brought to the Alor Star magistrates’ court for a remand application. β September 16, 2018.
