PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim has called on the people not to defend bad leaders.
He said there were those who backed such leaders only because they were of the same race and religion.
He reminded Malaysians that they should know right from wrong, and race and religion should not be used as an excuse to defend bad leaders.
“The attitude of some people now is that, it is okay to defend individuals who go against religious teachings, like stealing people’s money or being involved in corruption, so long as they are of the same race and religion.
“We need to clean up our act, clean up ourselves first, do things right. When we do this, we open up a new path, give new hope, which is what the new government is doing,” he said at an Agenda Malaysia Baru event in Gemas yesterday.
Present were Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun and newly elected Seri Setia assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar.
Anwar stressed that the rights of Felda settlers must be returned to them as soon as possible so as to repair the damage done by the previous government.
He also expressed confidence that the Pakatan Harapan administration would revive development for the benefit of the people. – Bernama, September 10, 2018.
