LOKMAN Noor Adam is not backing off. After arguing with the police at last night’s illegal gathering in Kuala Lumpur, the Umno supreme council member is now threatening to sue the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.

He’s upset that Dang Wangi police stopped him from lodging a police report against Attorney-General Tommy Thomas for dropping the corruption case against Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Lokman told The Malaysian Insight that he has been summoned by the police to have his statement recorded.

“Yes, the police contacted me but as I said yesterday, we will not be silent. We will lodge a report to the Malaysian Human Rights Commission and I will hire a lawyer and I will file a civil suit against the police for their brutality,” Lokman told The Malaysian Insight.

Lokman said he will also lodge a police report against Dang Wangi district police chief, Shaharudin Abdullah and his men.

“If suing is not enough, I am also going to lodge a police report against the OCPD and his men for tearing the report I made earlier and for their brutality towards us.”

“I will also forward the report to Bukit Aman’s integrity and standards compliance department (Jips),” he said.

Lokman and his supporters clashed with the police who had attempted to stop the illegal gathering from marching towards the Dang Wangi district police headquarters last night.

Tempers flared and there was pushing and shoving from both sides. Video footage showed a heated exchange between the Umno man and Shaharudin.

No arrests were made last night, but Shaharudin told The Malaysian Insight earlier today that Lokman will be called in soon to have his statement recorded.

“Yes, we will be calling him soon. My investigating officer will set an appointment,” Shaharudin said.

The gathering last night was to protest the decision by the A-G to drop graft charges against Lim. Carrying placards, the group also called for the removal of Attorney-General Tommy Thomas.

They had initially gathered outside the Sogo shopping mall, where Lokman gave a speech. The group was about to move towards the Dang Wangi police station when the cops moved in.

“Who are you to stop Malaysians from lodging a police report? Since when have Malaysians been disallowed from lodging reports?” Lokman could be seen asking the police in the video footage.

Defending his action to stop the protesters from marching, Shaharudin had said that the organisers of the rally had not submitted a notice to the police prior to the gathering, an offence under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. – September 8, 2018.

  • There are procedures and ways for making a police report. But charging into the polis station with an angry mob is not one of them. Which part of illegal gathering does UMNO's lap dog not understand?
