MORE than 1,000 Umno supporters gathered today at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport Terminal 2 to wait for former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman to return home.
They began gathering at the airport, which is used by private airline operators in Tanjung Aru and some five minutes from Kota Kinabalu, from 9.30am.
He is expected to arrive around 12.30pm.
Sources told The Malaysian Insight that Musa left Subang Airport in Selangor at 10am.
Musa arrived in Kuala Lumpur a fortnight ago and admitted to a private hospital because of an undisclosed ailment.
The deposed chief minister must be sworn in before the state assembly speaker latest by September 11, or his Sibuga seat vacated to make way for fresh elections.
The ruling comes under the state constitution Article 22(2) which allows an elected representative to be sworn in within 90 days from the first assembly sitting.
The first sitting after the May 9 general election was held on June 11.
But with next Monday and Tuesday being public holidays, Musa must be sworn in over the next three days.

Sources told local media that Musa will likely be sworn in tomorrow and that his aides are presently arranging the ceremony.
Speaker Syed Abas Syed Ali also had to cut short his holiday to Egypt to return home for the ceremony.
The police and the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) are likely to call Musa for questioning.
On Monday, outgoing Sabah police chief Ramli Din disclosed that Musa’s criminal intimidation case is being investigated more thoroughly and that police plan to take statements from several more people before they wrap up their probe.
The first phase of the investigation papers sent to the Attorney General’s Chambers was rejected and they were requested to complete more tasks.
Police have recorded more than a dozen witnesses’ statements so far, Ramli said.
On the MACC investigations into alleged corruption in the Sabah Forestry Department and several timber-related companies, the source said Musa’s cooperation is needed as he could possibly hold the key to several outstanding matters.
“MACC needs to have a talk with Musa because of the allegation that he had attempted to ‘buy’ representatives when the GE14 results did not seem to be going his way.” – September 5, 2018.
